Shove the Pig’s Foot a Little Further in the Fire, Part 1: A Part Melody
“Shove the Pig’s Foot” is a popular tune in the old-time repertoire. It comes from Marcus Martin, from western North Carolina, who recorded for the Library of Congress in the 1940s. This tune appeared on an LP he recorded with his son in the 1950s. You’ll learn the melody to the A part in this video. Bruce plays the whole melody through first, then takes it apart phrase by phrase, and finishes by playing the A part twice, so you can practice playing it along with him.
