Huckleberry Hornpipe, Part 3: Clarence White’s Solo: A and B Parts
Clarence White’s solo on “Huckleberry Hornpipe” is legendary in flatpicking circles. It’s also a great example of how to create a guitar-friendly version of a fiddle tune that might be tricky to duplicate exactly on guitar. Clarence plays a fiddle-like solo on the first and second parts, with a couple of cool syncopations and bluesy licks, but the third part becomes a showpiece for some of his favorite bluegrass guitar runs. Scott plays the entire solo through, and then breaks it down, phrase by phrase. You’ll learn the A and B part of Clarence’s solo in this video.
