Muriel Anderson, Part 1: “Two Shores”
Muriel Anderson’s career as a fingerstyle guitarist has a remarkably wide scope. As a player, she won the 1989 Walnut Valley fingerstyle guitar championship in Winfield, Kansas (the first woman to do so), she has recorded with Chet Atkins, released more than a dozen CDs, and is comfortable in styles ranging from classical to contemporary. Muriel is also one of the most accomplished and popular advocates of the harp guitar. But Muriel’s impact in the guitar world is also felt through her long-running All Star Guitar Night, a series of concerts presenting many of the world’s finest guitarists held at the biannual NAMM trade shows. She is also a prolific composer. In this video, she discusses her latest album, Nightlight Daylights, and performs her tune “Two Shores” on a Spanish-made Camps flamenco guitar, built with traditional cypress back and sides and a spruce top. murielanderson.com
