Chad Manning: “St. Anne’s Reel”
Peghead Nation fiddle instructor launches Bluegrass Fiddle course.
Fiddler Chad Manning has been the instructor of Peghead Nation’s Fiddle course since we launched. We recently renamed his Fiddle course (it’s now Beginning/Intermediate Fiddle) and launched Chad’s new Bluegrass Fiddle course, where Chad will focus on the fiddle styles of Kenny Baker, Stuart Duncan, and other bluegrass greats, teaching tunes from the classic bluegrass repertoire along with improvisation exercises and advanced techniques. The Bluegrass Fiddle course includes all of the material from Chad’s Fiddle course, but new lessons, starting with this month’s lesson on “Road to Columbus,” focus specifically on the bluegrass style and will tend to be more advanced than the lessons in Beginning/Intermediate Fiddle. When he’s not teaching lessons at his San Francisco Bay Area studio, Chad plays fiddle with the David Grisman Sextet, the David Grisman Bluegrass Experience, and Laurie Lewis and the Right Hands. In this video, Chad took a break from filming his lessons in the Peghead Nation studio to play “St. Anne’s Reel” with Peghead Nation’s Scott Nygaard.
