Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway: “Crooked Tree”
The flatpicker, songwriter, and singer performs the title track to her Grammy-winning album at the Fox Theater in Oakland, California.
Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway are barnstorming the country this summer, playing dates with Old Crow Medicine Show and the Infamous Stringdusters, and gracing festival stages far and wide. Last month, their tour with OCMC brought them to the Fox Theater in Oakland, California, a homecoming show of sorts for Molly, who grew up in Palo Alto, California, just across and down the San Francisco Bay from the Fox. Tuttle is riding a wave of adulation from bluegrass, roots, and Americana fans, and has Grammy Awards for her last two albums, 2023’s City of Gold, and 2022’s Crooked Tree to add to her raft of International Bluegrass Music Association awards over her still-growing career. She’s a powerful force in today’s lineup of progressive bluegrass bands, and her guitar, songwriting, and singing prowess were on full display during this special show.
In this clip Molly and her talent-packed band, which is Bronwyn Keith-Hynes on fiddle, Kyle Tuttle on banjo, Dominick Leslie on mandolin, and Shelby Means on bass, play “Crooked Tree,” with a touching introduction from Molly about living with alopecia as a child. Go see Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway when you get a chance!
