John recorded the mysterious original tune “Ponies in the Forest” on Up in the Woods. The tonality is a little vague, hovering between the key of G and D, and on his recording, John tuned the E strings down to D, although it’s not necessary to do that to play the tune, just the intro he played on the recording. John walks you through the melody phrase by phrase, showing you how he articulates some phrases with hammer-ons. John also shows you his intro in GDAD tuning, and how the tune sounds in that tuning.
