Tune Writing with Mark Simos, Part 1
Mark Simos is a great tune- and songwriter, as well as an excellent old-time and Irish fiddler and guitarist. His original fiddle tunes, including the tune “Pony Boy” that he and Brittany get started with, can be heard on his albums Race the River Jordan and Clifftop Notes, and his songs have been recorded by Alison Krauss, Ricky Skaggs, and others. He is associate professor in songwriting at Berklee College of Music and teaches at camps and workshops around the world. In this workshop, Mark teaches an original old-time tune and talks about some of the things he thinks about when writing tunes.
