Bluegrass Fiddling with John Mailander, Part 2: John Teaches “Denver Belle”
In this video, John teaches the fiddle tune “Denver Belle,” which comes from bluegrass fiddle icon Kenny Baker, who played fiddle with Bill Monroe’s Blue Grass Boys for 25 years. His smooth style has been a tremendous influence on all bluegrass fiddlers for the last 50 years. About “Denver Belle,” Baker says “I never heard nobody play that but my people. My daddy played it, my grandpa played it. I even had an aunt who played it. I never heard nobody else play it.” John takes the tune apart phrase by phrase slowly, and then puts it back together and plays it at a slow tempo, so you can play along with him. johnmailander.com
