Jazz Chord Shapes on the Top Four Strings, Part 2
In this video, Scott shows you how to play minor voicings with sevenths, ninths, and elevenths by modifying the “F” shape to be a minor chord. He also shows you how to modify a IV-chord shape just above the “F” shape with sevenths, ninths, etc., and points out that some of the shapes can be used for different chords, depending on which note in the voicing is the root. For example, G6 and Em7 are interchangeable depending on whether you want to make the G or E the root of the chord.
