Jamie Stillway, Part 1: “Analysis Paralysis”
Ever since bursting onto the scene in the early 2000s, Jamie Stillway has been a fixture at guitar festivals and camps, as well as her local Portland, Oregon, acoustic music scene. As her recordings demonstrate, she is equally at home in solo and band settings (her 2005 debut Mell of a Hess and 2007’s Winter Rings are both ensemble efforts), and her quirky original style is heavily influenced by early jazz and ragtime styles. Jazz Times aptly described her approach to the guitar by saying that, “Stillway moves freely and with wit and creative restlessness, between the worlds of, say, Leo Kottke and Django Reinhardt.” In this video, Stillway plays her original “Analysis Paralysis,” which she recorded on her most recent, self-titled album, a solo outing. jamiestillway.com
