In this video, Chad gives you some ideas for improvising on “Train 45” and tunes like it, starting by showing you how he shapes the melody through inflections, dynamics, rhythmic variations, etc. Then he talks about the scale he’s using, a blues scale with a major third, flatted seventh, and flatted fifth, and how to come up with melodies focussing on that scale.
