Trifolium: “Sanctuary” | Muleskinner Instruments
Froggy Bottom luthier and Muleskinner Instruments founder Andy Mueller plays a Muleskinner octave mandolin with his trio.
Luthier Andy Mueller has been an integral part of Froggy Bottom Guitars for over two decades, building guitars and the business with Froggy Bottom founder Michael Millard. Andy also builds Muleskinner Instruments, focusing on A-style mandolins as well as flattop guitars of his own design.
In this video, Andy plays a recent Muleskinner octave mandolin with his band, Trifolium (named after Vermont’s state flower), which also includes Justin Park on guitar and harmony vocals and Chloe Powell on fiddle. The instrument has a width of 14-inches at the lower bout, a 21-inch scale, and it is built with mahogany back and sides and an Engelmann spruce top.
