The Devil Makes Three: “Paint My Face” | LR Baggs

The Americana ensemble plays a song from their latest album live in the LR Baggs studio in Nashville.

July 10, 2019

The Devil Makes Three is Pete Bernhard, Lucia Turino, and Cooper McBea, and they’ve been creating their blend of blues, rock, and old-time music since their debut in 2002. Their most recent album is Chains Are Broken, which includes the song they play in this video, “Paint My Face.”

Songwriter Bernhard says “‘Paint My Face’ talks reincarnation and unlived lives. It partially discusses being a musician or an artist. It’s like a letter written to a child I don’t know saying death is not the end, as I believe, it’s the beginning of another life.”

The band stopped in the LR Baggs Nashville studio while they were at the Americana Festival, and recorded a few tunes. See the LR Baggs YouTube channel for the whole session.

Recorded at LR Baggs’ Nashville studio.

Directed and edited by Mike Luckett

Additional camera by David Johnson

Audio Mixed by David Brubaker
