Jon Gomm Powertap Earth Pro | Fishman
A new version of Fishman's Rare Earth combines a magnetic pickup with an internal mic and a body sensor.
Fishman’s Rare Earth line of magnetic soundhole pickups have long been favorites for percussive fingerstyle guitarists. Players have had the option of packages that combine the Rare Earth with an internal mic (Rare Earth Blend Active) or with a body sensor pickup (Powertap Earth), but until now, using all three sources required a custom installation. Modern fingerstyle master Jon Gomm has long relied on a custom pickup setup based on a Rare Earth in his signature model Ibanez guitar, and now Fishman has introduced a simple solution with the Jon Gomm Signature Series Powertap Earth Pro ($379.95 street). By adding Fishman’s bridge plate-mounted Tap body sensor and blend controls to the premium Rare Earth Blend pickup, the system offers a larger variety of sounds and abilities to capture percussive techniques.
