D-19 190th Anniversary | Martin Guitars
Chris Martin discusses Martin's anniversary and special edition dreadnought.
Martin Guitars is celebrating the 190th anniversary of C.F. Martin 1833 arrival in America from his native Germany. To commemorate the occasion, the company is releasing a D-19 190th Anniversary model. Based on the rare D-19 that Martin offered as a limited edition in 1976, the guitar is built with mahogany back and sides and an Adirondack spruce top. Original D-19s had spruce tops that were stained dark, and the new D-19 190th Anniversary follows this tradition by using high-quality, but cosmetically imperfect tops that are given a figured mahogany appearance via the use of a Mimaki inkjet printer. In this video, Martin’s Executive Chairman Chris Martin introduces the guitar and gives a historical context of the D-19 and anniversary itself.
