Jerry Douglas’ Beard Deco Phonic | Fishman
Dobro star Jerry Douglas talks about his use of a Beard Reso Phonic model when playing with the Earls of Leicester
Dobro star Jerry Douglas has enjoyed a long partnership with Beard Guitars, primarily playing the company’s modern instruments such as his own signature model. However, when he began playing with the Earls of Leicester, Jerry initially used vintage instruments to achieve the tonality found on old recordings. Jerry has reently transitioned to using a new Beard Deco Phonic, which is an instrument that is based on vintage dobro designs (check out Peghead Nation instructor Mike Witcher’s demo of a Deco Phonic Model 27!) In this video, produced by Fishman, whose pickups and preamps Jerry uses on stage, Jerry discusses the instrument and how it’s a perfect match for playing with the Earls of Leicester.
