D-BA Custom | Thompson Guitars
Jamey Hampton of Brothers Jam demonstrates his custom dreadnought, which he calls "Hawkfire."
Thompson guitars specializes in creating one-of-a-kind custom versions of its standard models. Jamey Hampton, who is a part-owner of the company and plays in Portland, Oregon’s Grateful Dead tribute band Brother’s Jam, wanted a dreadnought that responded well to being strung with light-gauge strings, so he had the Thompson team built him a specially-voiced guitar. Featuring a custom “Hawk” inlay and spectacularly figured Brazillian rosewood for the back and sides, Jamey has named the instrument “Hawkfire.” In this video, Jamey demonstrates and discusses the instrument.
