We're excited to announce that one of our most popular instructors, Sharon Gilchrist, now has a second course on Peghead Nation. It's called Intermediate Bluegrass Mandolin with Sharon Gilchrist, and you can sign up today!

As Sharon explains in the course introduction video above, in Intermediate Bluegrass Mandolin, you'll learn to play solos on classic songs and tunes using bluegrass mandolin techniques like tremolo, double stops, and more. Sharon also includes some introductory lessons on basic fretting and pick technique, bluegrass chords, and other techniques, so you can continue building on the concepts she covers in her popular Beginning Mandolin course.

Her playing can be heard on two film shorts that feature her original music: Milagros and La Sevillana as well as Quartet, the Rounder Records release by the Peter Rowan and Tony Rice Quartet.

Her latest project is a trio with Peghead Nation instructor and co-founder Scott Nygaard and mandolin master John Reischman, and their first album will be released in September 2016. See the trio play “Sail Away Ladies” here.

Sharon is a widely respected mandolin teacher, with numerous private students. She served as mandolin instructor at the Santa Fe University of Art and Design from 2004 to 2012 and has taught at music camps throughout the US. She earned a bachelor's degree in mandolin performance from Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee.
