Renowned music writer joins Peghead Nation.
April 14, 2016
Derk Richardson is one of Peghead Nation’s favorite music writers so we’re pleased to announce that he has agreed to write a blog for us called Derk’s Discoveries. Derk has been writing about music, travel, and food since the late 1970s and has worked as an editor at AFAR, Oakland, and Acoustic Guitar magazines. For the past 20 years he has hosted “The Hear and Now,” a freeform music radio show on KPFA, 94.1 FM, in Berkeley, California.
For “Derk’s Discoveries” Derk will be digging for musical treasure in record bins, historical archives, and music news. “I’ll be sharing thoughts and opinions stored and stirring in my brain from untold decades of listening to and writing about music,” Derk says. “Traditional, folk, blues, Americana, and singer-songwriter styles will be at the root, but I expect to branch out into jazz, classical, and improvised genres as well.”
His first piece for Peghead Nation is about Record Store Day and titled “Record Store Daze.” We’re looking forward to seeing what Derk discovers in future blogs. Welcome to Peghead Nation, Derk!
