SESSION 2 Video, from Saturday, February 20 | Lester Young Solos
In Session 2 of the Swing Guitar Soloing workshop on February 20, Matt showed you Lester Young’s legendary 1936 solo on “Lady Be Good” and gave ideas on translating Lester’s saxophone phrasing to the guitar. He also gave you some “Lester Licks” from his 1939 “Lester Leaps In” solo and talked about how Lester uses the major and minor pentatonic solos in his playing. You can watch the entire video from that session above, and download the notation and tab that he refers to during the session below.
Matt also recorded an addendum to the Session, to answer questions that he didn’t get to during the session. You can view that video below.

In the first session of Swing Guitar Soloing on February 6, Matt Munisteri examined Louis Armstrong’s 1937 solo on “Sunny Side of the Street,” and you can watch the full video of that session above. Matt also recorded responses to some of the questions he didn’t get to during the live session, and you can see his responses to those in the video below.
