We’re excited to have you in Melodic Embellishment: A Doorway to Improvisation, the upcoming eight-part live Zoom workshop series taught by Peghead Nation mandolin instructor Sharon Gilchrist.
In this workshop, Sharon will use common bluegrass and old-time tunes to demonstrate her method for teaching students how to embellish and vary melodies as a way to begin to improvise. The specific tunes that Sharon will use are listed below, and there are PDFs (notation and tab) and audio MP3s of each tune as well, so you can download those and work on the basic melodies of the material before the workshop begins.
You’ll also find the notation and tab PDFs that Sharon will refer to in Week 1.
