Taylor 2020 Builder’s Editions
Peghead Nation’s Teja Gerken discusses Taylor’s latest Builder’s Edition models with the company’s master designer Andy Powers at the 2020 NAMM show.
For many musicians, the annual NAMM show in Anaheim, California is a highly anticipated event. Recently held January 16–19, the show is where most manufacturers release their new models, and Peghead Nation was on hand to learn about the latest instruments. One of our stops was the sprawling Taylor Guitars exhibit, which included a nearly soundproof video studio (NAMM is an incredibly loud event!), where master guitar designer Andy Powers showed us the company’s latest offerings. In this video, Andy and Peghead Nation co-founder Teja Gerken discuss four new Builder’s Edition guitars, which include the grand symphony–size Builder’s Edition 816ce (see our separate demo here), as well as the grand concert–size Builder’s Edition 912ce and Builder’s Edition 652ce WHB (a reverse-strung 12-string with maple back and sides) and the Builder’s Edition 324ce, a grand auditorium built with urban ash sourced from salvaged Southern California city trees. Andy and Teja discuss the backgrounds and tonalities of each guitar, with Andy providing playing examples of each model.
