Jonathan Cooper Violin
Peghead Nation Fiddle instructor Chad Manning had been searching for a fiddle that matched the sound he “heard in his head” for years, when he finally encountered a new instrument built by Maine-based luthier Jonathan Cooper (jcooperviolinmaker.com) at the Wintergrass bluegrass festival. “I’d been hearing incredible things about his instruments for years, and he had three or four of them out,” Manning recalls. “This was the last one, and as soon as I picked it up, I knew immediately that it had the sound that I’d been looking for. I wanted something deep and low, but also clear and sparkly, and this fiddle has that.”
