Santa Cruz Guitar Company Shop Visit, Part 2
Santa Cruz’s Richard Hoover and Carolyn Sills discuss the process of ordering a custom guitar.
Although the Santa Cruz Guitar Company offers a full range of standard models, the shop specializes in the ability to offer customized specs. Whether the objective is a certain neck shape, non-standard woods, one-of-a-kind inlay, or specific tonal goals, Santa Cruz is happy to work directly with the customer to create a guitar that meets expectations at every level.
Peghead Nation visited the Santa Cruz shop last fall, and in this video, Santa Cruz co-founder Richard Hoover and head of operations Carolyn Sills explain how the ordering process works, what options are included in a model’s base price, whether to work with a dealer or contact Santa Cruz directly, and more. The video also includes examples of Peghead Nation’s Teja Gerken and Scott Nygaard playing a Santa Cruz OM built with Adirondack spruce and Brazilian rosewood, a Brad Paisley Signature Model, and an OM Grand 12-String built with a bearclaw Sitka spruce top and Indian rosewood back and sides.
