The Guitars of “Duets”
Teja Gerken and Doug Young discuss the guitars used on their recent album of fingerstyle duets.
After performing together for many years, Peghead Nation’s Teja Gerken and Bay Area guitarist and author Doug Young recently released their debut album of fingerstyle duets. Drawing from their collections of instruments, Duets features 12 guitars, including two Lowden O models (an O-10 and an O-35, both previously featured on Peghead Nation), two Martin OMs (a Brazilan rosewood Laurence Juber signature model, and a Custom Shop OM), a National Reso-Phonic Style 1, a custom Taylor 656ce 12-string, a Kenny Hill Ruck model classical, a Mario DeSio baritone, a high-tuned Tony Yamamoto mini 12-string, an Epiphone Joe Pass Emperor, and custom six-strings by Ed Claxton and Kent Hamblin. In this video, shot in Doug’s home studio, where the album was recorded, Teja and Doug introduce each instrument. www.tejaanddougguitar.com
