Guitarist, singer, and songwriter Vicki Genfan has been a mainstay on the international fingerstyle circuit ever since receiving widespread recognition for her 2000 release Outside the Box (vickigenfan.com). Using alternate tunings and two-handed tapping and harmonic slap techniques, she creates a sound that is often compared to Michael Hedges. Vicki was the 2008 winner of Guitar Player magazine’s “Guitar Superstar” competition, and she has performed at many of the most renowned guitar festivals around the world. Her latest album is Uncovered (Acoustic Music Records).

Originally recorded on Outside the Box, “New Grass” won the 2001 “Just Plain Folks” award, and the piece also appears on her 2003 live album Vicki Genfan Live (Acoustic Music Records). “New Grass” is played in C G D G C D tuning, and in this video, Vicki plays it on the prototype of her Luna signature model guitar. vickigenfan.com
