Teja Gerken: “Vicki’s Red Boots”
Peghead Nation co-founder performs the opening cut of his new album “Test of Time.”
Peghead Nation co-founder Teja Gerken just released a new album of solo fingerstyle guitar. Test of Time, which is Teja’s third solo album, features originals, a 12-string guitar arrangement of John Coltrane’s “Naima,” a Bach Minuet played in DADGAD, and tunes from the Celtic repertoire. Playing six-string, 12-string, and resonator guitars, Teja applies his keen melodic awareness, experimental spirit, and masterful technique to a set of ten solo guitar pieces.
In this video, Teja plays the album’s opening cut, “Vicki’s Red Boots,” which is dedicated to guitarist Vicki Genfan (check out Vicki’s performance of her tune “New Grass” in the Peghead Nation studio!). Played in CGDGGD tuning, Teja uses his 1999 Lowden O10 in this video, as well as on the album version of the piece.
Test of Time is available for purchase on Bandcamp, as well as on all major streaming services.
