Steve Baughman: “Autumn in Azure”

Peghead Nation clawhammer guitar instructor plays a brand-new original tune.

Peghead Nation Clawhammer Guitar instructor Steve Baughman is known for his tasteful fingerstyle playing, which is rooted in Celtic, American traditional, and other folk styles. Steve is also among a handful of pioneers who have adapted clawhammer banjo styles to the guitar, and he teaches the technique in his Clawhammer Guitar course on Peghead Nation. Steve recently stopped by the Peghead Nation video studio to record a brand-new original composition, “Autumn in Azure.” Played in DADGAD tuning, the mid-tempo piece uses a hybrid clawhammer/fingerstyle technique and features a strong melody alongside its mesmerizing groove. Steve uses his Circa Guitars signature model guitar in this video.
