Mike Compton and Joe Newberry: “Death and Blues”
Peghead Nation mandolin instructor plays an original song with his duo partner, at the Great Lakes Music Camp concert.
Mike Compton and Joe Newberry were on hand at Great Lakes Music Camp in October 2022, held on the shores of Lake Michigan, as part of the impressive instructor roster that also included Peghead Nation teachers Stash Wyslouch, Joe K. Walsh, and Emerald Rae. During the instructor concert, Compton and Newberry played this great version of “Death and Blues,” which Mike wrote as part of a weekly co-writing project with Nashville writer, instrumentalist, and teacher Thomm Jutz. You can read Mike’s account of the origins of this project in his blog post on MikeCompton.net.
