Peghead Nation instructor Marla Fibish is one of the finest Irish mandolin players on the scene. Accordingly, it should come as no surprise that former Solas members John Doyle (guitar) and Mick McAuley (accordion) invited her to join them for a set of tunes that included “Loftus Jones,” “A Fair Wind,” “The Collier’s Reel,” and “Dan Breen’s,” at a recent house concert in San Anselmo, California.
Marla is looking forward to releasing her solo album The Bright Hollow Fog in January 2020. An intimate recording of mostly mandolin/mandola duets (with Marla playing both instruments), the album will also feature special guest performances by Martin Hayes (fiddle), Keith Murphy (mandola), Rebecca Richman (fiddle), Bruce Victor (guitar), and fellow Peghead Nation instructor Steve Baughman (gourd banjo).
