Bill Evans teamed up with fellow Peghead Nation instructor John Reischman, along with Todd Phillips and Hayes Griffin during the Great Lakes Music Camp concert in October for this great version of the classic “Big Spike Hammer.”

Great Lakes Music Camp is held every October on the shore of Lake Michigan, in West Olive, Michigan. Each year the organizers gather a talented group of instructors to lead three days of intensive teaching, jamming, and performances, and in its five-year history, this weekend has become a destination for bluegrass, old-time, and roots players from around the world. This October, there was another big Peghead Nation instructor contingent, including Emerald Rae, Bill Evans, Evie Ladin, Zoe Guigueno, Stash Wyslouch, and John Reischman, and it was fun to see all these folks in action both in the classroom and during the instructor concerts. Make plans to attend next year!

Learn banjo with Bill Evans in his Beginning Banjo, Bluegrass Banjo, Earl Scruggs: A Player’s Guide, Melodic and Single String Banjo, and The Banjo Style of J.D. Crowe courses on Peghead Nation.

To learn mandolin from John, enroll in his Melodic Mandolin Tunes and Old-Time Mandolin courses.
