John Reischman, Scott Nygaard, Sharon Gilchrist, Joe K. Walsh: “Lonesome Moonlight Waltz”

The Peghead Nation Mandolin Camp instructor staff plays a beautiful Bill Monroe waltz at our Camp concert.

Here’s another outtake from our first Peghead Nation Mandolin Camp, which was held at Kowana Valley Folk School and Lodge near Yosemite, California in mid-October. Students spent four days immersing themselves in great instruction, with rotating classes with Sharon Gilchrist, John Reischman, and Joe K. Walsh teaching mandolin, and Scott Nygaard teaching guitar.

John, Scott, Joe, and Sharon played a few tunes together the first night of Camp, including this beautiful waltz by Bill Monroe, “Lonesome Moonlight Waltz.” Sharon and John also taught Campers the melody and harmony parts to the tune during one of our elective sessions, so this performance was a preview of things to come.
