Lissa Schneckenburger: “Lady Walpole‘s” / “The Mountain Ranger” / “Nancy King”
Peghead Nation’s new ear training instructor plays three great New England fiddle tunes, with tenor guitar accompaniment.
We are excited to introduce a great new instructor on Peghead Nation, Lissa Schneckenburger! In her new course, Learning by Ear with Lissa Schneckenburger, you’ll learn to pick up tunes on the fly and increase your ability to interact with your fellow musicians, using pitch-recognition exercises, call-and-response rhythm exercises, and a daily practice routine so you can refine your skills in between lessons. Lissa also teaches three complete Celtic tunes in the course.
Raised in a small town in Maine, Lissa Schneckenburger began playing fiddle at an early age, inspired by her parent’s interest in folk music. In 2001 she graduated from the New England Conservatory of Music with a degree in Contemporary Improvisation. She has been composing, recording (including six solo albums), performing, and teaching music around the world ever since. Her class on the basic fundamentals of how to learn by ear has been in demand at festivals, music camps, and workshops for the last 20 years, and we’re happy she is bringing this helpful course to Peghead Nation!
In this video, Lissa plays three New England fiddle tunes with Corey DiMario on tenor guitar. The tunes are “Lady Walpole’s” (traditional)/ “The Mountain Ranger” (traditional)/ “Nancy King” (by David Kaynor).
