John Reischman and the Slocan Ramblers: “Stoney Creek”
Our Melodic Mandolin Tunes instructor plays a bluegrass classic with the 2020 IBMA Momentum Band Award winners.
The Slocan Ramblers (Frank Evans on banjo, Adrian Gross on mandolin, Darryl Poulson on guitar) won the 2020 IBMA Momentum Band of the Year award, and they’ve been building a loyal following with their high-energy live shows, formidable instrumental chops, and tight vocal harmonies for a few years. They recently joined their fellow Canadian, mandolin master and Peghead Nation instructor John Reischman on this video collaboration on the bluegrass instrumental “Stoney Creek,” which is written by Jesse McReynolds. It has an unusual chord progression, so it’s a lot of fun to jam on as you can hear in this video (which also includes Charles James on bass).
John just released a lesson on this tune in his popular Melodic Mandolin Tunes course, so you can learn it and make this a triple-mandolin collaboration!
