The 2019 lineup of the Marshall Mandolin Summit, put on by Northfield Mandolins in the town of Marshall, Michigan every year included Peghead Nation instructor Melodic Mandolin Tunes instructor John Reischman, along with mandolin masters like Mike Marshall, Sierra Hull, Don Sternberg, and others. The weekend was full of amazing concerts and workshops with these players, some of the finest mandolinists in the world.

During one of the concerts, John Reischman and Mike Marshall played a killer version of the Puerto Rican tune “La Arboleda.” John learned the tune from a recording of cuatro player Pedro Padillao, and it has three parts, the first in A minor, second in C major/A minor, and third in A major, with a syncopated melody. John teaches the tune in his Melodic Mandolin Tunes course.
