The first Peghead Nation Mandolin Camp was announced two weeks ago, and we quickly sold out of our initial 25 seats. But thanks to our hosts at Kowana Valley Folk School near Yosemite, California, we've opened up another five seats, which are available for registration now.

The first Peghead Nation Mandolin Camp gives mandolinists of all levels the opportunity to learn with three of the leaders in today's vibrant mandolin community: Sharon Gilchrist, John Reischman, and Joe K. Walsh. Over the course of this special weekend, our in-demand instructors will lead you through immersive sessions focusing on improving your mandolin technique, developing your repertoire, and honing your overall musicianship. Students will select their skill level and will rotate through sessions with John, Sharon, and Joe, so you’ll have focused time with each of our experienced instructors. In addition, Peghead Nation co-founder and guitar instructor Scott Nygaard will be on hand to teach group guitar sessions for those interested in learning guitar. You’ll also be treated to faculty concerts and have an opportunity to perform in student concerts. Only 30 Camp spaces will be granted, so you'll have plenty of personalized instruction and ample time to make music with your fellow campers.

Nestled in a beautiful valley just outside Yosemite National Park, the Kowana Valley Folk School and Lodge is the perfect place to strip away distractions and focus on your playing. Its 300 acres are crossed by Sierra streams, forested hiking trails, and open alpine meadows, providing an ideal environment for studying with these amazing instructors and learning with your fellow students. You’ll have the chance to stay in the Lodge’s private and semi-private housing, or to enjoy the outdoors by camping on-site. See below for video that shows the beautiful setting of Kowana Valley, taken during a harmony singing workshop given by Keith Little, Sharon Gilchrist, and Mike Witcher last May.
