For the past four years in September, Peghead Nation's Monroe-Style Mandolin instructor Mike Compton has hosted the Monroe Mandolin Camp, offering students a weekend full of instruction, concerts, jams, and immersion in the world of traditional bluegrass created by Bill Monroe.
This year's camp is scheduled for September 19 - 23 in a new location – Lake Junaluska Conference & Retreat Center in North Carolina. The camp will again feature dozens of classes each day for beginning, intermediate, and advanced students.
Mandolin instruction will be presented by Mike Compton Skip Gorman, Caleb Klauder, Matt Flinner, John Keith, and Mark Royal.
For the first time this year, MonManCamp is also offering a traditional bluegrass bass track taught by the great Mike Bub, as well as signing and guitar classes taught by Jody Stecher.
Bob Black and Alan Munde will be on hand to teach banjo, and Bluegrass Boy Byron Berline will handle the fiddle track.
