For the past two years in September, Peghead Nation's Monroe-Style Mandolin instructor Mike Compton has hosted the Monroe Mandolin Camp in Nashville, Tennessee, offering students a weekend full of instruction, concerts, jams, and immersion in the world of traditional bluegrass created by Bill Monroe.
This year's camp is scheduled for September 14 – 18 at Nashville's Scaritt-Bennett Center, and will again feature dozens of classes each day for beginning, intermediate, and advanced students. Mandolin instruction will be presented by Mike Compton, Adam Tanner, Richie Brown, Lauren Price, David Davis, and others, and will include instruction in old-time mandolin in addition to traditional bluegrass.
This year, MonManCamp is also offering a traditional bluegrass banjo track taught by the great Alan O'Bryant. This intimate series of classes is for intermediate players and will focus on the banjo's place in Bill Monroe's band, Earl Scruggs' revolutionary style, and more.
