The Santa Barbara Acoustic Instrument Celebration (SBAIC) will return to Santa Barbara, California, from August 25 - 27 this year, and following a Friday kick-off with workshops by Richard Smith, Tim Sparks, and Kinloch Nelson, Saturday’s morning workshops will be presented by Peghead Nation co-founder and Advanced Fingerstyle Workshop host Teja Gerken, as well as by blues guitar wiz Kenny Sultan.
The day will get started with Teja’s Introduction to Alternate Tunings workshop for advanced beginners and intermediate level players. Teja will begin by showing musical examples in common tunings such as Drop D, Open D, DADGAD, Open G, etc., and will discuss why you might choose one tuning over another. Throughout the workshop, Teja will emphasize ways to understand the common territory between various tunings as well as their relationships to standard tuning.
Other Saturday morning activities include a presentation on Making Responsive Guitars by Luthier Ervin Somogyi, and a Yoga and Meditation class on the beach with Dream Guitars’ Paul Heumiller prior to the festival doors opening.
Located at the beachside Fess Parker hotel in Santa Barbara, California, SBAIC '17 will feature the finest contemporary acoustic instruments, workshops, seminars and music. Share Your Passion with old and new friends for a fun, relaxing and inspiring weekend. sbaic.com
