We’re pleased to announce that the lucky grand-prize winner of the Peghead Nation Goodtime Giveaway is Annette Siegel from Panorama City, California. Annette is now in possession of her Goodtime Banjo, courtesy of our friends at Deering Banjos. She has also started diving into our Clawhammer Banjo and Advancing Mandolinist courses on Peghead Nation with the other part of her winnings, a one-year All Access pass to the site.

When we drew our winners on May 1, we had no idea that Annette was so immersed in the roots music community. She and her husband Nowell perform as an acoustic duo called the Seagulls, and they run Living Tree Music, a lutherie and instrument repair shop in Panorama City. The shop specializes in restorations of vintage Gibson mandolins, and Nowell has recently built an octave mandolin with a guitar body, as well as guitars, bouzoukis, lutes, and many other types of instruments.

Annette and Nowell’s latest project is the “travelling luthier guitar-drop” shown in the photos here. This custom-built teardrop trailer includes appointments like quartersawn oak sides, real mother-of-pearl inlays (representing their duo) on an ebony fretboard, real herringbone, and a mahogany bridge. Internal appointments include a queen-size bed and plenty of storage for instruments and camping supplies. This is a one-of-a-kind trailer, and it now has one more instrument to transport.

We’re so happy that the Deering Goodtime banjo has landed in a good home and thank Deering Banjos, D’Addario, and everyone who entered the giveaway!
