Tony demonstrates the guitar on an excerpt from J.S. Bach’s famous “Chaconne” from the Solo Violin Partita, #2, which Tony recorded on his album Mysterious Boundaries using this guitar.

Also check out McManus’ segment in Peghead Nation’s Advanced Fingerstyle Workshop, where he teaches his arrangement of the traditional “Shallow Brown,” discusses and demonstrates his unique approach to triplets and ornaments, and demonstrates his Linda Manzer Sitar-Guitar. tonymcmanus.com

Hi Tom,

I'm just now seeing your comment. This video was recorded with a Rode NT-5 and an Audio Technica AT2020. The Rode is aiming at the guitar, just off-camera, so not super-close. The AT2020 is hanging above Tony's head, and while it captures some guitar, its purpose is mostly to record the speaking voice during lessons. The mics go into an Aphex 207 mic preamp and then into a Macbook Pro by way of a MOTU 828 Mk2 interface. This is our standard setup for most Peghead Nation videos, with the more recent videos using a Neumann KM-184 instead of the Rode.
Glad you're enjoying the clip!

How was the guitar recorded for this video? I don't see a mic anywhere, but it sounds close-mic'd (and very lovely!).
