Berkeley, California’s Freight and Salvage Coffeehouse recently hosted a star-studded evening of music benefiting Bill and Kathy Evans’ family. Peghead Nation banjo instructor Bill Evans appeared onstage throughout the evening with numerous musicians, including flatpicking maestro Dan Crary and songwriting guru Steve Spurgin. We caught Bill, Dan, and Steve backstage as they warmed up playing Steve’s great original song “A Walk In the Irish Rain” followed by Bill’s original instrumental “Winston’s Jig.”

Thanks for these warm and generous comments! Steve, Dan, John Hickman and Bryon Berline were in the wonderful band called "California" a number of year ago and there is a version of Steve singing this tune on this band's "Traveler" recording. Dan, Steve and I, along with mandolin player Martin Stevens, recorded a new version of this song, in a medley with my tune "Winston's Jig" in the summer of 2015 and it's our hope that this song will be released on a new project at some point featuring Dan and myself. So stay tuned! The tab to "Winston's Jig," along with audio of me playing the tune at a moderate speed, is in my book "Banjo For Dummies," (2nd edition). Thanks again everyone for your interest in our music! Sincerely, Bill Evans

Love "Walk in the Irish Rain" Lost my CD. Can I still buy the CD? Never heard Winston's Jig before. Is there a CD with that song too?

Thank you Steve, for sharing this video of some of Music's Greatest players/writers/mentors to thousands. This is one of many reasons I requested to be "Facebook Fruends". To share the joy, fellowship, inspiration from the music of those I admire. I 'share' to give Joy to others (most in music/broadcast industry). Bless You. Keep Writing, Playing, Jamming!

A great mandolin duet of Sarah Jarosz’s original tune, recorded live at the Marshall Mandolin Summit.
